Comparisons to Zidane, Kaka and Ronaldinho, touted as The Morrocan Messi and the new Baggio – there are certainly a lot of big names being bandied around when it comes to this superstar 15 year old. Italy’s most promising raw young talent, Hachim Mastour says his dream is to win the Ballon D’Or – and there are plenty around who believe that’s a dream for the taking.
The teen trequartista started out at Reggiana, moving on to Inter, and landing at AC Milan in 2012 following a world-record teenager transfer of €500,000. Barcelona, Juventus, Real Madrid and Manchester City were just some of the clubs bidding on the youngster following his impressive performances at Inter.
The Morrocan-born youngster is already making waves at the San Siro. Until this year his performance has only been witnessed by coaches and fellow players, but footage is finally starting to appear so we can see what all the fuss is about. Here Mastour is making his presence felt in a recent Italy U-16 game against Qatar.
He’s certainly a natural on the ball, with plenty of tricksy footwork, great technique and control. While it’s too soon to predict how his obvious talents will develop, and where he’ll end up playing over the next few years, those who’ve seen him play say that a talent like his only comes along every 20 years. If he can keep his head down and somehow ignore all of the insane hype currently surrounding him, could we have another Messi on our hands?
